Samvada introduces sympathetic strings that resonate when singing or playing into the microphone. It is tailored for practicing and performing Indian music, providing tuneful accompaniment in any chosen scale or raga. Similar to the taraf strings of a sitar, only the accurately played notes produce sound, enhancing ear training and delivering a harmonious backing.
Samvada comes with a variety of presets, and users have the option to create and share their own. The thirteen strings can be precisely tuned to match a recording's notes or adjusted to personal preference. Its default presets are derived from tunings in maestro recordings along with additional settings for Western-style scales.
Samvada offers versatility for:
- Tuning stringed instruments
- Aiding in instrument making and tuning, e.g., flutes
- Creating a pleasant sonic envelope for background noises and voices
- Playing like a swar mandal or harp
- Functioning as an Aeolian harp especially in windy conditions
It can be utilized concurrently with drone recordings or other music-oriented apps like the renowned iTabla Pro designed by Prasad Upasani.
For a desktop or laptop plug-in alternative with a similar impact, consider trying DroneBox by Oli Larkin (Upcoming new version in September 2012).
